Inspectors find rodents, roaches & lacking smoke detectors at Jacksonville apartment complex

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It checks out like a renter’s nightmare: Infested with rodents, dripping roof and stoves that don’t work.

During the period of two days in belated February, city inspectors discovered significantly more than a dozen devices at Downtown East flats that were lacking smoke detectors, multiple units infested with rodents and roaches, and many devices with damaged ceilings as a result of leaks from either a damaged roof or perhaps a plumbing system drip through the floor above.
